Beyond Budgeting at Handelsbanken

On December 9, some 40 curious participants gathered for another networking meeting organized by Beyond Budgeting Institute (BBI). This time Handelsbanken was the host. Among the participants were representatives from among others Volvo Cars, Eon, Gunnebo, Ericsson, Coor Service Management, Folktandvården and Willhem.

After a joint lunch, Dag Larsson, CEO, started Ekan Management, with an introduction to the subject and presentation of BBI. Subsequently, Martin Björnberg, Head of Finance at the Regional Bank of Western Sweden, talked about how Handelsbanken is led and managed. Some of the key factors he highlighted were the importance of "culture-assured" employees, few control measures, and confidence in the employees' drive and ability.

Then Andreas Trolläng, Group Controller took on Akademiska Hus, in order to tell you about the steps that one of Sweden's largest real estate companies has taken towards a more dynamic planning and follow-up of the business.

The meeting was rounded off by Rikard Olsson, Business Area Strategy and Business Management at Ekan Management. Rikard highlighted the need for the development of today's financial functions in order to be able to provide both expertise and effective support processes and, not least, value creation and business-related controlling.
