Ekan at BBRT in London

On March 21-22, the network Beyond Budgeting Round Table organized a seminar focusing on Changing Mindsets. Ekan was represented by Dag Larsson, CEO and Petra Ericsson, management consultant.

The purpose of the subject area Changing Mindsets was to highlight the importance of how important it is to disseminate an understanding in the operation of what the change in control model means and what new working methods are required. As an example of a company that managed to create a corporate culture beyond budgeting, we got to know how Egon Zehnder, a world leader in manager recruitment, working and what has laid the foundation for a prominent position in his industry.

It was also discussed how today's reward system stands against new governance models. Change in the rewards system's structure is often the first and even biggest challenge that companies face. This is because the reward systems are so closely intertwined with the prevailing control model. It is usually the case that rewards linked to absolute budget targets are questioned in favor of rewards based on relative targets, for example results in relation to the industry.

A third topic for the seminar was forecast accuracy and pitfalls, as well as success factors for creating useful forecasts. The presentation was based on the book "Future Ready: How to master business forecasting" by Steve Morlidge and Steve Player. Finally, “Creating Shared value: How to reinvent capitalism - and unleash a wave of innovation and growth” was addressed by Michael Porter. Porter believes that shared value that focuses on the links between social and economic progress provides the opportunity to unleash unparalleled forces in a new wave of global growth.

In addition to Ekan, Össur, Sparebank 1, Coloplast A / S, Det Norske Veritas, Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA, Statoil and Danfoss A / S. Extra fun was that two of Ekan's customers participated, IL Recycling and Akademiska Hus.
