Sweden's Management consultants celebrate 50 years

The management consulting industry is relatively young in a historical perspective, with a growth especially during the second half of the 20th century. Today, the industry is of significant size and plays an important role in the development of a variety of companies and publicly owned organizations. The number of active management consulting companies in the Swedish market is estimated at 15,000 with a total turnover of SEK 32 billion (Bisnode 2015).

Sweden's Management Consultants (SMK) is an industry organization representing management consulting companies and their consultants and contributing to the development of the industry. The Swedish organization is part of the global management consulting organization, ICMCI, which is responsible for, among other things, the international certification CMC, Certified Management Consultant.

Today, Dag Larsson, CEO of the management consulting company, sits on the chair Ekan Management who has been in the business since the early 1980s.

This year, SMK is celebrating its 50th anniversary, which is being celebrated through an anniversary celebration Stockholm, March 15. In addition to the members of the organization, the invited are also representatives from business, academia and public activities, student organizations, journalists and others. During the afternoon, the opportunity to listen to a number of interesting speakers and participate in discussions about challenges and success factors for the development of prosperous and sustainable companies and organizations.

Some of the speakers:

Sorin Caian or chair of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) since 2015. In this role, he works, together with the local trade associations, for the development and recognition of the management consulting profession in a global perspective. In addition to her chairmanship, Caian is an active Senior Partner at BDO Business Advisory in Romania and previously has a background in the aerospace industry. Sorin will, among other things, talk about the industry at large and ICMCI's operations.

Sofie Bergdahl is already the CEO of one of the largest student-driven consulting companies at the age of 24, Lunicore. Lunicore has Lund University as the majority owner and today consists of about 80 active students from some 40 educational institutions. The students' vision is to be able to participate and contribute to a more innovative and innovative southern Sweden. Sofie has her assignment for two years with a strong growth goal of more than doubling the number of students coming out of business and the public sector through Lunicore. Among other things, Sofie will talk about what expectations the future management consultant will have in the industry, how the future consultant will work and in what contexts.

Peter Himmerhas been CEO since 2010 Kia Motors Sweden responsible for the Swedish market at the world's fifth largest vehicle manufacturer, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group. Himmer carries with him a difficult experience from an industry and market in transformation through leading roles at Fiat Group, Chrysler and Ford Motor Company. Peter will talk about the customer's / company's future needs and challenges as well as the demands of tomorrow's management consultant.

In conjunction with the anniversary, this year's recipients of the SMK Award in Consulting Excellence are also recognized. The prize is awarded to one of the member companies on the basis of the consultancy assignments nominated and judged on a number of criteria such as value creation for the customer.
